Once the audience notices this identification, parallels between Tina Fey and Jenna, the actors who portray the two characters, are hard to miss. Jenna is an NBC television star who is often overshadowed on her own show by her male costar, Tracy, a much more famous actor who achieved his greater fame by starring in several popular movies. Tina Fey is an NBC television star who is (or was, at any rate, when the 30 Rock first came out) often overshadowed on her own show by her male costar, Alec Baldwin (who plays Jack), a much more famous actor who achieved his greater fame by starring in several popular movies. What the musical identification of Liz with the overly confident, morbidly obese woman makes clear is that 30 Rock does not merely parallel The Girlie Show; it does so self-consciously (and with a healthy dose of literary irony).
why does everyone gotta hate on the other female characters of the mentalist? like, lisbon would not hear of this bs ok she would defend these ladies. ok, possibly not erica flynn, she did murder her husband, but that’s besides the point. stop using jisbon and jane as an excuse for your negativity. away w/ you.
I don’t hate every single female character that comes along but Erica Flynn was notorious for killing her husband and a “man”ipulator bascially. War of Roses was painful to watch (even though Every Rose Has It Thorns was interesting upon rewatching). The only reason I can think of that make this meaningful is the slight chance that Jane will put her back to jail and able to resist her seduction. I guess having Lisbon and Jane together gives me confidence that Jane is probably more difficult to tempt now than ever and Lisbon will be spared from those bull shit jealousy by a little.
